Whatta week ...

Sep. 13th, 2009 | 11:09 am

mood: worn out worn out
music: None .. Lee snoring, if that counts ... ?

Hi All,

This has truly been the week from H-E-Double Hockey Sticks ... *rolls eyes*

Not only were we hanging around twiddling our thumbs to see if I was pregnant ... but then Dad (who was going into respite for a week) announced to Mum as he was walking out that she was the most awful person in the world and that he was never coming back because she was so horrible to him.

THEN .. The boys have been being stalked at school by The Biological Bitch (there are 6 of us with the same biological mother and we all have different fathers.. You do the math ... ) who has been taking them aside (9 and 11 years old for crying out loud) and saying some very cruel things to them which has been making them very unhappy, they're not sleeping properly, then that makes them tired so they start fighting amongst themselves, so they're not sleeping, Mum's not sleeping cos they're not, Dad's getting annoyed cos they're constantly acting up and the whole situation blew up.

THEN .. they moved the custody hearing up to tomorrow morning .. which is fine... but Mum and I found out on Friday .. so my boss was VERY obliging by letting me have some time off for it ... I have to work around it, but that's fine. At least I get to go and support Mum.

THEN .. I went to a friend's place on Friday night and another 'friend' (who is well-known to be a rampant dickhead when he's drunk) managed to have a screaming match with a girl that came with him which culminated in her having an asthma attack and me talking her down while Lee came very close to throwing this certain person into the fence. Or over it .. whatever took his fancy at the time.

THEN .. When I asked to leave at 2am -- bearing in mind I haven't had a day for at least 2 weeks where I haven't had a nap when I got home from work and I was driving so I was getting to the point where I was so tired that I didn't feel safe -- Lee told me not to dictate to him and that he was having fun and I was to leave him alone. So I went to sit on the couch where I promptly fell asleep, putting my neck out which gave me a migraine all day yesterday and then when I woke up I was so out of it and only just managed to stay awake on the way home. I nearly put us into the gutter a couple of times, but we made it.

So. Now that it's Sunday, I'm just having a quiet one, taking it very easy and waiting for next week to start and praying that it will be a lot quieter than this one has been!!!

Hope you're all having a good one,
Cheers
PB

Random drivel..

mood: happy happy

Well, it's the night of Lee's piss up and I'm writing a journal entry online ... So that should tell you roughly how busy it got! Lol!

There were only a few invited, and of those few, there was only one definite ... who has just left! :P But Lee has managed to get through a fair bit of his beer, and Kimmie and Rob will be back after the Alice Cooper concert, so things should get a bit more interesting! Haha!

Actually ... I'd rather it be this quiet ... And Lee didn't mind if anyone did or didn't come ... as long as he can get drunk, he's not fussy! Lol!

So now we're watching movies and waiting for Kimmie and Rob to get dropped back :) Anyways ... I'm going to head back to the boy and have a snuggle while I've got him there all boozed up and cuddly! :D

It's been while ... Can't sleep ...

Aug. 22nd, 2009 | 01:49 am
location: Study ...
mood: contemplative contemplative
music: None .. Lee snoring, if that counts ... ?

Well, it's been a while since I updated, but like the subject line says, I can't sleep ... so I guess I've got nothing better to do *shrugs*

I've got a fair bit on my mind at the moment, which is probably all contributing to the inability to sleep ... and since it's nearly 2am I'm going to try this to get my mind a bit clearer...

Now Lee's always said that he was never going to get married again, and I have more or less resigned myself to the idea that if I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life (and I do) that I was going to have to accept the fact that I will never realise my dream of getting married ... the same dream every little girl has, really ...

But the other night, Lee turns to me in bed and asks me when I wanted to be married by. I said that I'd always thought I'd be married by the time I was 26 (in fact, growing up, I never saw myself getting to 25 without being married) but since I am now nearly 25 and a half, that's never going to happen. To which Lee replied that he will definitely marry me one day. After nearly falling out of the bed in shock, I said 'oh yeah ... when, by the time I'm 80?' and he said 'yeah, about that'. And while all of this sounds nice, I'm not stupid. I'm not holding my breath and it will still shock me stupid if he ever does get off his arse and propose. *rolls eyes*

So, having now come to terms with the fact that when and IF we do manage to have children, they're going to be bastards ... which I'm not happy about ... but I know that if I want to spend the rest of my life with him, then I need to put aside those childhood dreams of marriage, etc ... Fairy tales just don't come true these days ... *sighs sadly*

Then, a day or so after all of this has occurred, I get home from work and Lee tells me he's had a possible job offer. In Maclean. Which is a HUGE move ... but, after much thought, I decided that if he does go, I will go with him. It will mean we're closer to Leo, in case anything worse goes wrong with Logan ... and it will be warmer, so my arthritis won't play up anywhere near as badly... But the thing that terrifies me (and, clearly, keeps me awake at night! :P ) is that I would be moving 2 states to be with a man who won't commit to me enough to even propose, let alone marry me... So what's to stop him leaving me once we get there? Although .. he did point out that if he did that to me, that his mother would cut certain parts of his anatomy off ... and then I'd have to get in line behind every other member of his family before I could even get a shot in ... So I guess that's something of a comfort ... *wry smile*

Another thing that is on my mind at the moment, is that last night -- incidentally mid-coitus -- I had a really vivid mental image of a little girl, about six months old, with dark blonde hair .. I've had premonitions before that have turned out to be true ... and I've always had a fairly strong gut instinct, which has served me well. But generally it's just a thought that crosses my mind -- for example, 2 or 3 weeks ago, the idea of moving to Maclean crossed my mind, nothing other than a passing though, but then Lee got the offer -- or an instinct about someone or something. Occasionally I will have a daydream, but never have I had such a vivid mental image that I've lost my sight for its duration... This one actually blocked out Lee and the whole room, all I could see was this little girl.. So goodness knows who she is ... maybe Kimmie is going to be pregnant soon! :P Lol!

Oh well ... it's now a quarter past 2 and I should really be getting some sleep, since I'm still recovering from the flu and I'll need it :P

So, hope everyone else is having a quieter life than me! I'll write again when I find out more about Maclean ...

Cheers,
PB

Looking for work ... Grrr ...

Jul. 27th, 2009 | 05:49 pm
location: lounge room
mood: discontent discontent
music: Henry Mancini- Baby Elephant Walk: watching Adelaide's new baby elephant on tv

Hi all,

Lots happening at the moment ... work's been .. well .. not busy, but long hours ... and the kittens are still causing havoc! We've had to take to shutting them out of the bedroom at night in order to get some sleep! And also in order to prevent them chewing through my 3rd and final Nokia phone charger ... Grrr!

Have been actively applying for jobs as I'm totally sick of the double standards, revolting conditions and sh!thou$e pay rates at work .. I'm actually going to apply with another funeral company ... it's a shame .. I really enjoy the funeral industry .. but I am torn between not wanting to be treated like I don't matter in the slightest and my loyalty to the families that we serve.

I feel that my contribution to the company is not valued at all .. I mean, they treat us all like we're just replaceable and we have to just do whatever they choose for us and shut up. I realised a few weeks ago (and subsequently I began to apply for other jobs) that I do not feel any loyalty to this particular company at all. I've never had that before, regardless of the working conditions and anything else that may have been wrong with a place, I've never not felt any loyalty to the company ... When I realised this, I realised that my stint with this company is all but done. The only reason I'm still there is because I'm not going to leave this job before I get another one ... Which is very sad ...

So yeah ... that's about where we're up to at the moment ... I'll update on the job search later! ;)

Hope everyone's having a good time of it!

Cheers,
PB xx

Books Questionnaire ... Always good for a point of interest ....

Jul. 9th, 2009 | 11:51 pm
location: Study
mood: sleepy sleepy
music: Whatever Lee is messing about with on his computer ... Could be YouTube ... *shr

1. One book that changed your life? Honestly .. ? I would probably have to say Bill Cosby's "Love and Marriage" ... a very entertaining insight into marriage, child-rearing and the like ... Gives a few good pointers on what to do ... And what NEVER to do ... Lol..

2. One book you have read more than once? Umm .. Harry Potter ... The first four ... I've only read the last 2 once each at this stage ... But give it time and I'm sure I'll re-read them :)

3. One book you would want on a desert island? Man ... I dunno ... Probably the Bible ... It's something I'd have more chance of not getting bored with ... Cos there's always another chapter!

4. One book that made you laugh? Hmmm ... The aforementioned Bill Cosby ... And "Marley and Me, by John Grogan ... I laughed til I cried in some parts :D

5. One book that made you cry? Definitely "Marley and Me" ... Not only did I laugh til I cried, but I also outright blubbered in some parts :P

6. One book you wish had been written? How to Get The Better Of Those Workplace Bullies

7. One book you wish had never had been written? Dunno ... Probably that Mr Joseph's Caravan one or whatever it was called that my mum swore would change my life ... But didn't.

8. One book you are currently reading? Oh hell ... about five ...  Haven't gotten anywhere with any of them ... Haven't enough free time ... Ummm ... One is "The Front" by Patricia Cornwell. Another Kay Scarpitta one, don't know any further than that ... The aforementioned lack of time! :P

9. One book you have been meaning to read? "The Front" by Patricia Cornwell ... Again with the no free time. Grr! I need to get a job where I get more than 5 minutes to cram food down my throat for a lunch break a day! Lol!

Quick rant on Guitar Hero III

Jul. 9th, 2009 | 10:56 pm
location: Study
mood: surprised surprised
music: None ... but I can hear the strains of GH down the hall! Lol!

Hi guys,

Well .. I have to admit .. I was a skeptic ... But Guitar Hero III has convinced me that maybe the PS3 is not *completely* useless, after all ... Lol.

We were originally looking for GH3 for the Wii, but since they are IMPOSSIBLE to get hold of, we ended up buying it for the PS3 ... and I have to say ... I'm a convert. The graphics are good, the playlist is quite varied and the controls are relatively easy to understand - even for an uncoordinated poindexter like myself! :P

There is also a reasonable range of base characters, before you even get near the ones you can unlock/buy from the store with your earnings from gigs.

I'd say to anyone who was considering getting GH3 ... Do! It's a great way to spend time, whether you're doing it with friends, or on your own! :)

Happy jamming folks!

Cheers,
PB

Whinge about Windows Media Player

Jul. 5th, 2009 | 10:34 pm
location: Home
mood: frustrated frustrated
music: None .. it's not working ...

Hi folks,

I would like to have a brief rant about Windows Media Player.

Why, with all their money, resources and the effort they have spent getting Vista to the shelves, have Microsoft not spent at least some portion of these on paying someone to fiddle with the programs and see if they interact with Vista -- key word -- COOPERATIVELY..

I mean ... they would only have to pay one guy ... and he could sit there and play with things, try out the functions, see if the new pretty colours affect any of the internal workings of the other programs. Which brings me to my problem with Media Player..

I had a laptop which I bought in April of 2007. It came with Vista. Now, I'll grant you, being a Sony VAIO, apparently I should not have expected particularly much from it to begin with..

HOWEVER.

The first time I used Media Player, it crashed and was subsequently never to be opened again. So, I moved over to ITunes, and was a fairly happy user.

Now, I used that laptop until it would run no more ... (and it has slowed to a snail's pace, regardless of how many times I service it, etc) so I went out and bought a new one. So much faster, and an absolute treat to use! It actually manages to make more use of the dual processor than my old one, so I'm feeling quite spoiled.
Or I was.

My new laptop is a Toshiba (Unbreakable! :D ... or so I'm told) and it has Vista. Apparently it is impossible to get away from that now..

So anyways ... I've been using ITunes since I bought it a month and a half or so ago, and decided to give Media Player another go - since everyone I speak to assures me that the problems have all been fixed and it should all work fine.

I have now spent the better part of the last 8 hours, updating my music collection, adding in new stuff, re-labelling, updating Album Art and the like ... and now ... the piece de resistance ......

I restarted my computer ... aaaaaand .....

In true Microsoft style.. Windows Media Player no longer works.

*sighs heavily*

I simply cannot win.

I would like to meet Bill Gates, and shake him firmly by the throat .... (yes, the Willy Wonka reference was intended) .. For he has acheived what few people have ever managed to acheive in their lives .... Mass Hysteria.

And I'm not talking about ... y'know ... Armageddon or Godzilla mass hysteria ... Or even Pearl Harbour ... No, no ... The panic you feel when you are told that you and everyone else around you is about to die, is nothing compared to the knowlege that you have spent all day slaving away at your keyboard for ... NOTHING.

Rather, this hysteria is simply the mass exodus of computer users, out of their offices, running naked through the city streets, screaming in agony, Microsoft flags and burning effigies of the man, himself ... Mr Bill Gates. Or as I prefer to call him ...

                Satan's Deputy....

Signing off now, may you all have many troublefree hours with your ... *grits teeth* ... Windows Media Player ...

Cheers,
PB

A Boring Sunday Afternoon At Work

Mar. 15th, 2009 | 12:45 pm
location: Work
mood: tired tired
music: None - Watching episodes of Reaper! :)

Well, things are pretty quiet today ... so I'm writing a little update ... :)

I have moved into a new place, am enjoying life with my new man ... :) My baby kittens have grown up (they're one now!) and Tigey (the one on the left in my avatar) is now the mummy of 5 beautiful little kittens!!

I love spending time with one of my closet friends, and her man - they're getting one of the kittens when they're old enough to leave. (They're 3 weeks old today!)

I started a new job about 7 weeks ago and am loving it! Work is awesome, my man works here now too ... which makes it even more awesome! :D And so much easier to get out of bed in the mornings when he's coming too! :P

My beautiful bunny Honey Bunny has has 2 beautiful little babies who were 4 weeks old yesterday! They're completely gorgeous, and I'm going to have some REAL trouble selling them! Lol!

I'll be heading off to my man's folks' place tomorrow morning, we're flying up to the Gold Coast, then driving down to Maclean where they live .. we'll stay there for a couple of days, see his little guy and his family, pick up his car and some of his stuff and drive back to Adelaide! :) 23 hours of driving ... WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! :P

Oh, and as a final note ... it's my 25th birthday today! :P I'm officially old ... I can now get cheap car insurance! :P

So I shall drop a few lines in when I next get the chance .. hopefully I'll get a chance while I'm away .. if not, I'll put in an update when we get back! :)

Cheers,
PB

Hmmm.. Should re-start this ... :P

Sep. 13th, 2008 | 11:24 am
location: Home - my study
mood: okay okay
music: none.

Well ... it's been quite a while since I updated this ... 49 weeks apparently! so I figured that since I now have a reliable, fast-ISH internet connection, I can begin my regular rant again!!

Hmm ... Update on the pet status - Bella has now passed away, Honey Bunny is still going strong (and fatter than ever!!), I have another little female rabbit called Isabella, who is an Otter Grey Netherland Dwarf. Except she can't be purebred cos when we went to the show and saw the rabbits we saw a picture of a purebred Netherland Dwarf and they have really short retarded looking ears, but Issy has lovely ears! :P

Let's see ... I also have the two little kittens in my avatar (well ... I say little, they're reject midget cats, but they'll be 1 on December 29th this year! lol!) and they're called Charlie (short for Charlotte) and Tiger (short for... well ... nothing! :P)

Then out in the aviary, we have three chooks. The white one is called Sooty, the black one is called Henny Penny and the little red one is called Shirley. (Still want to get another one and call her Laverne ... maybe later! lol!) As well as the chooks, we also have a little female cockatiel, called Ophelia, a pair of Burke's parrots (Percy and Polly) and a pair of budgies (Harry and Sally). We did have a little 2year old male Indian Ringneck parrot called Psycho, but unfortunately when my partner went in there to collect the eggs one day he decided to leave home and explore the wide world of the Wetlands next door to our place. Occasionally we hear him ... we're going to have to leave food out for him as he's been a cage bird all his life and hasn't quite figured out the way things work in the wild. *rolls eyes and sighs* kids ... they never can learn the easy way, huh..? !!

Hmmm .. must go ... have to go watch the end of The Mummy 3 (we fell asleep last night!!)

Laters!
PB.
